Every time a URL answers with a 301, 302, 307 or 308, the browser is sent somewhere else. Each hop adds latency and a point of failure. We show you every single one: the URL, the status code, how long it took, and where it pointed next — until the final destination answers with a real page.
Shortlinks expire. Affiliate networks change domains. A "temporary" 302 from three years ago becomes permanent infrastructure. Each hop in a chain is a business relationship you depend on — and the first thing to check when conversions mysteriously drop.
Every redirect adds a full network round-trip — often 100–300ms each. Google has said long chains dilute PageRank and waste crawl budget. If your money page sits behind three hops, you're paying for it twice: in rankings and in conversions.
Verify your tracking links actually land on the offer — not on a parked domain or a competitor. Trace cloaked links, check geo-redirects, and confirm your sub-ID parameters survive every hop.
Audit migrations: are old URLs 301-ing to the right new pages, or wandering through chains and loops? One redirect is fine — five is a rankings leak. Check before Google does.

A 301 is permanent — browsers and search engines cache it and transfer SEO value to the destination. A 302 is temporary — it says "go here for now, but keep checking the original". Using the wrong one matters: a 302 on a permanent migration leaks rankings; a 301 on a temporary promo gets cached and haunts you later. 307/308 are their modern equivalents that also preserve the HTTP method (important for POSTs).
One is normal, two is acceptable, three or more needs a reason. Google's crawler typically gives up after ~5 hops, and each hop costs your visitors 100–300ms. If our checker shows a long chain, shorten it: point the first URL directly at the final destination.

4xx/5xx statuses mean the destination server refused or failed — the link is broken for everyone, not just you. A connection error means the server didn't answer at all (DNS failure, timeout, or it blocks automated requests). Some sites also block non-browser user agents — if a link works in your browser but fails here, that's usually why.
